ORAL SEDATION DENTISTRY
If you’re one of the thousands of people who are afraid to go to the dentist either because of bad past experiences, fear of embarrassment, or otherwise than you should consider a dentist who offers appointments using sedation dentistry. Sedation dental appointments are the same as any other appointment, except that you will not be conscious during the actual procedure.

Any sort of appointment can be done with sedative dental appointments, such as root canals, tooth extractions, fillings, implants, deep cleaning, and more. These procedures can be worrisome for many people. The sound of the dental drill, the feel of people working on your teeth, the pain involved, and the involuntary movements you might make which can prolong the operation are just a few reasons why lots of people prefer to be put under for their appointments. When you have to have dental work done, you can ask about the use of sedatives to give you a calm, pleasant, and pain-free experience.
BENEFITS OF SEDATION DENTISTRY
- No recollection of the appointment whatsoever
- Less frequent appointments, as each procedure can be done more efficiently
- Less involuntary movement to get in the way of the procedure
- Avoidance of sights and sounds that can invoke fear
- Time passes instantly and the appointment is over
- Virtually pain free dental work
TYPES OF SEDATION
There are three main ways you can be put under for you appointment.
- Oral sedation
When you are asked to take a sedative pill to put you in a sedated state, this is the use of an oral sedative. Oral sedatives can take a few minutes to begin working, but they are easy on your body and offer a combination of anti-anxiety and anesthesia. The effects usually last for a little while after the procedure as well, so you won’t have to worry about feeling pain on your way home either.
- IV sedation
An intravenous line can be attached to your arm to drip the anesthesia medicine into your system. It is quickly, highly effective, and very easy. This method allows our Fort Lauderdale dentist to adjust the level of medication you are on to provide more relief from pain and a higher level of anesthesia if necessary.
- Inhalation sedation
The quickest and most effective method of sedation is using the inhalation method. Within 30 seconds you will be in a deep sleep anesthetic state and the procedure can begin. You won’t feel a thing and will enjoy waking up to a completed operation without having to experience anything.
Our Fort Lauderdale sedation dentistry allows you to get the dental work you need without the unpleasant things that usually come along with it, such as fear, pain, anxiety, or embarrassment. It’s the best option out there for anyone who just hates going to the dentist!
